Fire Systems

Many vessels are fitted with what’s commonly referred to as a fixed fire system. In this particular example this Riviera M400 is fitted with a “Sea Fire” brand FM 200 automatic system.

During a Pre-Purchase inspection on this vessel, two items were noted relating to the fire system

1/ Service and pressure test dates unknown / no records or stamps on tag were available

2/ Safety pin, (which prevents the manual discharge cable operating) was fitted in the lock position

As it stood the manual actuator would not work and the system may not have been serviced or inspected at any stage. Both are not uncommon.

A quick call to the local authorised agent for this system has these items being resolved for the client, so this important safety item is installed and maintained in line with the manufacturers recommendations.
